Sarawan.

per Pottinger i Sarawanee sono circa 10.000 e la loro città non sembra essere interessante, nel suo "Travels In Beloochistan And Sinde" scrive: “The town of Sarawan which I saw in my progress of today is very small, not containing more than five hundred houses and huts, that are defended by a mud wall with bastions ; it is placed in the centre of a bare and sterile district, about twenty miles from the Sarawanee mountains, whence it takes its name […] The chief of Sarawan is Gool Mohummud Khan of the tribe of Humburanee; he pays no tribute to the Khan of Beira, but furnishes the whole of his troops, amounting to two hundred men, at his own expence for the service of government.”

Ancora note di Pottinger, nella traduzione del suo libro dal francese all’italiano fatta da Decio Ziliani nel 1819:
Il solo motivo che ha potuto indurre il fondatore di questa città a scegliere cotesto luogo, è stato, io suppongo, la provvisione abbondante e sempre sicura, d’acqua eccellente che somministra il [fiume] Bèli; e dobbiam convenire che sotto un clima tanto esposto alla siccità, quanto alla scarsezza e penuria de’ viveri che ne sono le conseguenze, il vantaggio d’essere costantemente provveduto d’acqua è incalcolabile.

Del libro Voyages Dans Le Beloutchistan Et Le Sindhy si trovano alcune edizioni anche su Amazon, sono delle riproduzioni del 1923 del testo originale di Pottinger del 1816, con delle imperfezioni dovute alla scannerizzazione di pagine molto vecchie e un po’ rovinate.
