Vacan (Wakhan) is a very narrow corridor (at some points is less than 16 km) in Afghanistan. Created at the end of the nineteenth century by the English, to act as cushion against potential Russian ambitions to India in a hypothetical war between Russia and the United Kingdom for the control of Central Asia. -
