Il Grande Gioco

Lyaree / Liari / Lyari.

dal “Gazetteer of the Countries Adjacent to India North-West”: LYAREE, in Beloochistan, a town or rather hamlet in the province of Lus, at the head of the estuary of the river Poorally, and twenty-five miles from its mouth. Pottinger states it to contain from sixteen hundred to eighteen hundred houses, which unquestionably is an exaggerated estimate. Outram styles it a “paltry little village,” and Masson says that it contains “about twenty mud houses, inhabited by Hindoos, and eighty huts, the abode of Mahometans.” This statement, though sufficiently accordant with Outram’s account, is quite at variance with that of Pottinger, but is in all probability far nearer the fact. There is an insignificant manufactory of salt here. Lat. 25° 37’, long. 66° 25’.”
